Before playing a minute of basketball as a freshman at Central Dauphin (PA), point guard Malachi Palmer already has a scholarship offer from head coach Chris Jans of New Mexico State.

Nebraska and Oral Roberts are also showing interest in the talented guard as well.

“It was a blessing and a dream come true,” Palmer said. “Me and my family have always talked about what it would be like to receive my first offer so when it actually happened it felt amazing to know that my hard work was finally beginning to pay off.”

NMSU is a very good program that has won 23+ games for the past nine seasons, and has made the NCAA tournament every year under third year head coach Chris Jans, who is 83-17 at the program.

The 2-time WAC Coach of the Year has a strong reputation and Palmer is well aware of it.

“I’ve seen them play before and I’m extremely excited and blessed that the coaching staff believes in me and are willing to take a chance on me,” Palmer explained.

Palmer was the NBA East Co-MVP at the Hoop Group Future All-American camp last week, and received great reviews from scouts, fans and coaches.

Most focused on his maturity for his age and his all-around game that already separates himself from his peers.

“I’m good at getting to my spots in the mid-range but I also love creating for my teammates,” he said. “I am extremely competitive so I’ll do whatever the coach needs and whatever it takes for my team to win.”
